I read the book & thought it was very well written, although I did find it interesting that dawn said it took something like 16 yrs for a private detective to find her, I’m assuming James cox& co. Some how tracked her down , so how is she interviewed in the other Hollywood? There are some slight inconsistencies there. That being said it is tragic that she was taken advantage of …. Imagine spending half yr young adult life waiting in cars w/ a can to pee in waiting for some freebase heartbreaking. She has definitely come out of a horrible situation shining….

Dawn was interviewed by Mike Sager for The Devil in John Holmes back in 1989. She and Sharon arrived together at Sager’s hotel. When Cass Paley was making WADD in 1997, Dawn was interviewed extensively again. Subsequently, Dawn was interviewed for The Other Hollywood, E! True Hollywood Story, and eventually, she and James Cox connected for Wonderland. Sixteen years is well off the mark.
Darcy, first of all thanks for posting here. Secondly, you make some good points. Dawn was 15 in 1975 when she mey Holmes. She was about 20 in 1981 during all of the madness. Certainly, she was takrn advantage of etc. I only hope that the survivors (Dawn, Susan Launius, Eddie Nash, Bill Vlick) have found peace since then….
Bonnie lent this book to me a while back, I could not put it down, loved it! Of course we went searching for various places mentioned in the book, it was sad to discover that the apartment where John, Sharon and Dawn lived in Glendale was gone.
The Glendale Galleria is still there, where Sharon went shopping after she and John had a big blowout. Desperate when he didn’t know where Sharon had gone, John got ahold of their next door neighbour and the two of them tracked Sharon down a few hours later at the Galleria.

Just finished this book and totally enjoyed it. I’m in Studio City too. I will never look at the 7/11 on Tujunga and Ventura the same way again.

I saw that but just assumed it would be a teaser and not the entire book. So I wound up purchasing it.

Oops, that should read The Devil and John Holmes. The title of one of the Italian films is close. š
