I love the scene where Dave & Barbara meet up with Ron, he turns around, smiles, and says, “DAVEY!!!”
The most moving, favorite scene was when Dylan McDermott is talking to the detectives and says, “John.. was the only one who know.. about the Nash hit.. … THAT PIECE OF SHIT RATTED US OUT… Let Nash in, and got my Butterfly killed!”
Yeah, those are great scenes. I’ve always wondered how much David Lind knew before the Nash Hit, if he really knew it was Nash they were going to rob before hand. Obovoiusly, none of these guys were brain surgeons.
No, I don’t think they knew who Nash really was until they were actually robbing him… Supposedly Nash likened them to animals saying launius was shooting up during the robbery
In Lind’s testimony, he stated that once inside Nash’s house he knew they were “over their heads”. I just can’t believe they went back and stayed at Wonderland. They also still had to fence or sell much of the loot, and that they didn’t really trust one another. They also thought the house was a fortress. It had a Trojan horse who was Johnny Wadd!
The part that made crack up upon first viewing was when Launius was dancin’ on the bed with the guns. He points a gun at Barbara’s face and says, “You must be Barabra”. I would think it would be at that very instant that alarm bells would go off in her head that would cause her to deduce that “….my mother WAS right! These are NOT nice people!” LOL
Summah, baby!…Bummah!….. (“I once saw the Grateful Dead!”) LOL
…and then when David asks Ron where they’re sleeping, Without batting an eye, Ron says, “You see that couch down there? That’s where you’re sleepin…” And being proud of himself for offering a second hand couch. Miss Manners says that the host should offer their guests the finest bed while the host takes the secondary sleeping venue….especially if you’re the host of that party that was going on. It would make it dashed hard for company to rest if there some whacked out girl stepping on their faces
It is like the song “Mama told me not to come” by Three Dog Night. Hangin out with a bad crowd will just lead to trouble. “Open up a window sucka, let me catch ma breath!”
Btw, what do we really know of Launius? We hear things…but the actual pictures of these people are really few and far between,…except for the mugshots, of course. No tell-all books from friends who knew them “when”? Also, I have never seen Boogie Nights. How does it rate against Wonderland? Is it worth the watch? Just wondering. The absolute most info I have gotten on this subject is coming, by far, from this website. Thanks, John. Love those clippings you stick in here. I read them all.
Boogie Nights is a lot more animated and has a lot of great visuals. It’s a great story, but from what I have read the porn world was not too happy about how many aspects of their trade are depicted…. the coke, the guy who kills himself, the violence, pedophilia, murder, the token black guy, etc. Great movie, though… check it out!
It’s my opinion that most of the things said about Ronnie Launius are simply fabricated in order to create more interest and it has certainly work over the years. Think about it. Lets say Launius was an out of work auto mechanic with a drug problem, how many people are going to be clamoring to get the low down on his life. Launius was an ill tempered addict who committed robberies in order to feed his addiction. Launius probably had very little patients for people like Holmes. Remember, police considered Ronnie Launius nothing more than a trouble maker not a man under investigation for 27 murders.
I think you made some good points. Souza says Launius was a thief from way back, probably even during his stint in the Air Force. If he was in charge of Logistics and equipment, it would have been easy for surplus to “go missing” or not be counted during inventory and inspections. I bet he was in the stockade for stealing. I liken his time in the USAF to the movie Buffalo Soldiers with Joaquin Phoenix and Ed Harris. It’s about the criminal hijinx, boredom, corruption and theft by American servicemen in Germany during the 1980s. A good movie, I enjoyed it.
Yes! And there’s the Diaz character. He is a short haired guy who in one scene urges Ronnie to throw the VCR out of the window. This scene is during Holmes version of events, when Ron is dancing around doing line after line of coke and strutting around like he’s the cock of the walk.

Lind and Babs were horny.. And would have left DNA all over Ronnie’s bed. I’d have let them have the couch too LOL.

Curious if the character ‘Cherokee’ is based on a real person. Is the guy at the tail end of this clip.
