When Suicides Were Made Public In The Newspaper

Suicides are now generally only broadcast or published when it is a famous person or if innocent people have also been killed. But in the old days, it was ridiculous the amount of detail the reporter would include in the story. For instance, the suicide below from an old issue of the 1909 Brooklyn newspaper, Daily Eagle. The family is devastated but if that wasn’t enough, the paper also had to air all of their hardships and dirty laundry. I guess the news has always sucked and still does.
