Rainbow Drive (1990 Film)

This cool 1990 cop suspense film was allegedly (very) loosely based on Roderick Thorp’s fiction novel, which was loosely based on the Wonderland murders. It was produced during the Nash-Diles trials and stars Peter Weller and the lovely Sela Ward. The smooth and tingly soundtrack was done by Tangerine Dream.

After a brutal multiple murder in the Hollywood hills, an L.A. cop runs into a wall of police corruption (sound familiar?). At times, I thought it was just a cheap rip-off of Lethal Weapon or To Live and Die in L.A…so it has that same style and those lush synthesizer keyboards and silky saxophones… so I couldn’t stop watching.

I found the old paperback for 99 cents and it’s coming in the mail.
