Excerpts from “I, Goldstein”
Al Goldstein (RIP) wrote a brilliant chapter on Holmes in his 2006 auto-bio. I never read Screw magazine, so I was unaware of Al’s writing prowess. You can’t put this book down.
Thanks for coming back!

Excellent examples John. I’m sure Holmes was involved in this horrible murder.

Apparently, Holmes made quite a few trips to Eddie’s after the murders. He was scared to death Nash was going to be after him but he kept making trips over to Dona Lola.. It really doesn’t mesh with the facts.

John was for he innocent of the murders back in ’82.

Typo. That should read “John was found innocent of the murders back in ’82.”

There was never enough evidence to convict him. With that said, Holmes was far more complicit in these murders than his side of the story would lead you to believe. If I’m not mistaken, Chris Cox showed up at Eddie’s the day of the robbery sometime in the afternoon and saw Holmes “standing by the bar acting nervous” I don’t think John Holmes needed a whole lot of persuading from Nash. This was simple role reversal.

To complete the talk of jewelry on the last page, JH told Al that his pinky solitaire ring “…went up my nose in a couple of toots”.

I do believe john was scared of eddie. I think he went over there to try to make sure that he wasn’t going to come after him. And trying to keep everything cool and smooth. Also he wanted to leave town since the cops were on him and not only wanted to borrow money but wanted to let ed know he was leaving.
